AstroFarm Helps TransAct Technologies Increase Efficiency and Accelerate the Software Development Process
TransAct Technologies is a global leader specializing in the development of software-driven technology and printing solutions for high-growth industries such as restaurants, casinos and gaming, oil and gas, and more. The company’s solutions are created based on customer requirements and are sold under the BOHA, AccuDate™, EPICENTRAL®, Epic®, Ithaca®, RESPONDER, Printrex®, and other brands. With more than 3 million printers and terminals sold and installed globally, TransAct is dedicated to providing top-notch support, spare parts, and accessories for its installed product base. Through the TransAct Services Group, the company also provides customers with a complete range of supplies and consumable items.
TransAct Technologies is known for developing cloud-based applications for fast-growing industries. The company faced challenges while developing and testing applications on various devices. The system engineers, working from different locations around the globe, didn’t have access to all the tools necessary for automation testing. Moreover, it was becoming increasingly difficult for them to test their applications on all devices, networks, operating systems, browsers, and under different circumstances, such as low battery and poor network connection, to name a few.
Since TransAct Technologies was already using 42Gears’ SureMDM to manage deployed devices, AstroFarm was proposed to solve the various development-related challenges the company was facing. TransAct Technologies mainly uses AstroFarm for the development and testing of new applications. The ability to remotely leverage a device farm and provide employees with full device access helped TransAct Technologies save significant time. Instead of buying or renting new devices, the company used existing devices, which saved them substantial capital. By using the test automation capability of AstroFarm, TransAct Technologies was able to perform network testing remotely and considerably speed up their SDLC processes.
- TransAct Technologies increased productivity of the development team by 25%.
- The company has been able to improve operational efficiency and reduce engineering setup time, while their development team is spread across multiple locations.
- By using AstroFarm, the company saved more than $2,000 in direct equipment and transportation costs in their first months of operation.
