Case Study - Technology

A2D24, South Africa manages

the visibility and availability

of ambulances on the streets

with 42Gears

A2D24 is a fast-growing start-up that designs and deploys quick solutions to its customers’ most demanding issues. A2D24 solves real life problems using technology. A2D24 was set up in the year 2015 in Gauteng, South Africa and has assisted customers in the private and public sector. As part of one of its successful projects, A2D24 deployed and designed an electronic bed management system which is deployed in various public hospitals in Gauteng. They also provide technological solutions to mobile network providers. Its advanced solutions are carefully chosen for development into products that can then be bundled and supplied to multiple customers.

A2D24 combines its thorough knowledge of technology trends around the world with its ability to recognize the root cause of the troubles, delivering solutions that allow an organization to excel.

Challenges

A2D24 has customers from a number of verticals. As part of one of A2D24’s projects, it was facing a major challenge in managing its fleet of ambulances deployed with tablets.  A2D24 wanted to provide an interface to dispatch ambulances and provide visibility and availability of ambulances on the roads. A2D24 was tasked with developing a dispatch tool to reduce response times in ambulances in the region. The challenge was to lockdown the device and restrict usage only to the allowed apps and to remotely access the device for support and push updates or configure changes.

“42Gears provided a comprehensive solution to meet both our requirements of reducing response times in ambulances and locking down deployed devices to restrict usage and device misuse.”

Solution

A2D24 found that to overcome the challenges above, it required a mobile device management package that would support remote access on devices installed in ambulances. Furthermore, the device had to be locked down to restrict usage, avoid device misuse and changes to device settings. After a detailed research on various products available for lockdown and device management, A2D24 found combination of SureLock and SureMDM from 42Gears as the right solution for its requirements. 42Gears provided a comprehensive solution to meet all its needs and the integration was seamless. A2D24 chose SureLock and SureMDM because it liked the integrated solution’s simplicity and ease of use with the ability to remotely control devices.

SureLock allowed A2D24 to lockdown the general purpose tablets deployed in the ambulances into dedicated devices and limit usage to only its app. SureLock allows ambulance drivers to only access authorized applications and the device settings are password protected and can only be accessed by an admin.

SureMDM provided device management features like monitoring, tracking and software distribution. It allowed A2D24 to track devices remotely and push changes to the device as well as offer remote support. The two most important features in SureMDM that helped A2D24 includes remote support and pushing updates to devices in lockdown mode. With SureMDM A2D24 was able to take control of the device when an issue was reported, and was able to successfully troubleshoot and fix the issues remotely.

Results

With 42Gears help, A2D24 is able to reduce response times in ambulances. Tablets deployed in the ambulances cannot be misused with SureLock on them. There is no risk of huge mobile bills. SureMDM with its remote control feature has helped A2D24 resolve all device issues remotely.
