A2D24 Maps Out Better

Ambulance Routes with

42Gears’ Help

Business Overview

A2D24 is a South African technology design firm that brings together all kinds of technology for its clients, so as to provide inexpensive, successful solutions to pressing problems.

Since its founding in 2015, A2D24 has played a part in the evolution of many of Africa’s largest and most important companies.

A2D24 looks worldwide for the technology best-suited for each individual client, ensuring clients receive only an optimal solution for their specific challenges.

Background and Challenges

As one of its projects, A2D24 was tasked with minimizing the amount of time required to dispatch and coordinate a fleet of ambulances.

The solution A2D24 devised required that drivers have smart devices, but this introduced new challenges that had to be solved.

Industry : Logistics and Healthcare

Location : Gauteng, South Africa

Products : SureMDM and SureLock

Challenges : A2D24 needed to lock down and easily troubleshoot the devices they gave to ambulance drivers.

Solution : SureMDM let administrators remotely repair devices while ambulances were on-the-move, and SureLock kept the devices locked down to one app.

  1. A2D24 needed to ensure that drivers would remain on-task at all times and would not get distracted by nonessential device features.
  2. Devices needed to have a way to safeguard against malfunction, as losing device functionality would be devastating in the high-intensity environment of driving an emergency vehicle.

The Solution

SureMDM and SureLock by 42Gears

A2D24 chose 42Gears because its slate of device management software served the exact purpose that A2D24 needed for its devices. A2D24 especially appreciated 42Gears’ software for being simple and easy-to-use.

42Gears helped A2D24 implement SureMDM, a device management solution, and SureLock, a device lockdown solution, which resolved A2D24’s device concerns:

  1. Using SureLock, A2D24 was able to restrict devices to run only a single application (or a few necessary applications). It hid the device settings menu behind a password known only to A2D24, ensuring that drivers could not change the settings.
  2. Using SureMDM, A2D24 was able to remotely monitor and manage devices as they were being used in-the-field. SureMDM even enabled A2D24 to remotely control and repair devices when necessary, providing fixes without requiring the driver to return for in-person help.

Benefits

  1. By restricting devices, A2D24 was able to ensure that they could not distract drivers. Moreover, because SureLock enforced responsible device behavior, the overall data consumption cost for the tablets was low, aligning with A2D24’s goal of finding low-cost solutions.

Repairing devices remotely made the ambulance network more efficient, ultimately resulting in a major impact on the ambulance fleet (you can read more about it here).

Testimonial

“42Gears provided a comprehensive solution to meet both our requirements of reducing response times in ambulances and locking down deployed devices to restrict usage and device misuse.”
