Aerial Solutions Goes Mobile with Tablets for its Crew, Secured with SureLock and SureFox
Aerial Solutions, Inc., a North Carolina based, family-owned business pioneered the use of helicopters for side trimming of rights-of-way in 1985. Aerial Solutions started as a one-ship operation and has since grown into a multi-helicopter operation working throughout the Eastern and Mid-Western United States. Since 1985, Aerial Solutions have aerially side trimmed thousands of miles of rights-of-way for more than 20 utility, pipeline companies, and governmental agencies throughout United States.
Aerial Solutions, Inc., was facing a couple of challenges. Firstly, the crew at Aerial Solutions Inc. was sending maintenance reports and bills to the head office for processing on a weekly basis. The whole procedure of sending paper-based reports and bills was time consuming which reduced their efficiency. The management of Aerial Solutions Inc. wanted to carry out the entire process of sending the documents on a daily basis.
Secondly, being in the aviation industry, Aerial Solutions, Inc. was not able to deliver regular weather updates to its pilots working on the field. As a result, Aerial Solutions, Inc. decided to provide Android tablets to its crew and make the entire process online. Aerial Solutions, Inc. decided to provide Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition to all its crew.
Now, these tablets which are capable of performing like any other tablet increased the probability of device misuse. This entailed, arming the crew with tablets without giving them access to all the features to prevent abuse such as installation of unwanted apps, data use and browsing on the web for personal use. Aerial Solutions, Inc. wanted to ensure device security without spending additional resources on maintenance.
Aerial Solutions, Inc. was looking for a solution which could ensure that the crew focuses only on the intended purpose of receiving weather updates, sending emails and generating maintenance reports.
After going through a comprehensive search process for different types of kiosk apps and undertaking testing and verification, Aerial Solutions Inc. chose SureFox and SureLock as these products met all its requirements.
42Gears SureLock and SureFox had all the features it needed to lockdown, restart and control the Android tablets they use. The two solutions allowed Aerial Solutions, Inc. to remotely update the configuration files with cloud support and keep its crew working with the same apps and prevent any unwanted apps or websites from being accessed.
With the implementation of the two solutions, the crew was able to increase its productivity with unhindered communication through emails and track devices through Android Device Manager. Aerial Solutions, Inc. have now implemented online forms and stopped using paper altogether for billing customers. The trials were conducted for two months before deployment on the field.
SureLock and SureFox enabled Aerial Solutions, Inc. to have full control over applications installed on tablets to check malware invasion and prevent employees from using them for personal use.
Having tablets in the field allowed the crew of Aerial Solutions, Inc. to submit paperwork daily to its office instead of relying on weekly mailings via a mail service. This reduced shipping costs and allowed them to bill its customers on a timely basis.
“With the implementation of SureLock and SureFox, we are able to control what our employees install on company tablets and prevent them from using the tablets for anything other than company business.”
