Getting Started with SureFox(Android)

Requirements


  • Android 2.1 Eclair
  • Android 2.2 Froyo
  • Android 2.3.X Gingerbread
  • Android 3.X Honeycomb
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Installation Steps


  • Download and Install SureFox setup from Android Market Place(Recommended) or from our file servers directly.
  • Alternatively, you can download the setup on a PC and copy the apk file to device's SDCARD and launch the setup file.
  • Accept the permissions to continue.
  • Once the installation is complete, a shortcut will appear in the list of installed apps on the device.

First Launch


  • Launch SureFox from installed apps list
  • Agree to the License Agreement
  • SureFox is ready for its configuration

Initial Configuration


  • On first launch, SureFox Homescreen looks like this.


  • Tap on "Back" button or in any empty area of your device within 3 seconds to launch the Password Console of Admin Area(See image below).

  • Enter the password(Default is set to 0000)
  • You can perform following actions in the Admin Area(See image below)

    • Allowing a Website: Add/Modify/Remove websites to be allowed on the SureFox HomeScreen
      • Tap on "Allowed Websites"
      • Tap on "Add URL"
      • Fill up the URL details
      • Enter the "Display Name"
      • Tick mark the checkboxes according to the requirements(Example: Set a webpage as homepage by checking the "Set as Starting URL" checkbox or hide an allowed URL from the Surefox hompage by checking the "Hide URL" checkbox


    • Browser Preferences: Manage SureFox Settings

      • Change Password: Change SureFox administrator password
      • Run At Startup: Configure SureFox to launch automatically when device starts
      • Enable Javascript: Tap to Enable/Disable Javascript in SureFox browser
      • Enable Plugin Support: Tap to enable/disable 3rd party plugins(including Flash)in SureFox
      • Enable Back button for browsing: Use device's "Back" button for navigating to previous page in SureFox Browser
      • Enable Traceball: Use device's Traceball for navigation in SureFox Browser
      • Enable Private Browsing: Clears cache memory when SureFox is closed
      • Allow Location Access: Allow location based websites to access device's location
      • Load Images: Allow websites to load images(Disable to save on nwtwork bandwidth and faster page loads
      • Use Wide View Display: Renders webpages as they are displayed on a typical desktop browser
      • Enable Light Touch: Enable hover action by light touch
      • Enable Sound Effects: Enable/Disable sound effects in browser
      • Detect Network Connection: Enable to automatically load default homepage as soon as network connectivity is regained
      • Idle Timeout: Launches homepage after the Idle Timeout occurs(Effective for kiosk purposes)
      • Advanced Settings: Contains advanced settings related to File, Network, DOM and Database access

    • Display Settings: Manage SureFox display settings

      • Enable Zoom: Tick the checkbox to enable zooming in webpages
      • Default Zoom Level: Set default zoom level when a page loads(Requires Zoom function to be enabled in SureFox)
      • Screen Orientation: Choose screen orientation for SureFox
      • Show Title Bar: Enable to display Title Bar in the SureFox browser
      • Show Load Progress: Enable to display load progress bar for current page(Requires Title Bar to be enabled)
      • Show Navigation URL: Enable to display the URL of the current website instead of the website Title(Requires Title Bar to be enabled)
      • Show Toast Message: Enable to display errors and notifications in the SureFox browser
      • Full Screen Mode: Enable to hide Android Notification Bar(Specially for Phones)
      • Prevent Suspend: Prevents the screen from entering into suspended mode
      • Disable Bottom Bar: Hides bottom bar buttons(Specially for Android HoneyComb tablets)
      • Enable Context Menu: Enable to display long tap context menu in browser for navigation
      • Context Menu Items: Select Context Menu Items to be displayed

    • Import/Export Settings: Import and Export SureFox configuration settings

      • Export Settings: Export SureFox configuration settings to an external file
      • Import Settings: Import SureFox configuration settings from an external file
      • Reset Settings: Reset SureFox configuration to defaults
      • Enable Automatic Import: Allows SureFox to monitor a pre-specified SureFox Settings file for updated setting and import automatically
      • Automatic Import File: Specify Automatic Import File to be monitored(Requires Automatic Import to be enabled)
      • Periodically Check: Specify monitoring interval for updated configuration file

Activating SureFox


  • Tap on "About SureFox" in Admin Area
  • Tap on "Activate" to launch activation prompt
  • Enter the activation code received after license purchase and press OK

Exiting SureFox


Tap on "Exit SureFox" in Admin Area to return back to default Android Environment


Tap on "Done" button to exit the Admin Area and return back to SureFox screen
